Black Car Service from the Lehigh Valley, by the Ride or by the Hour

Our black car service is a sedan or SUV with a chauffeur, booked for one ride or for the whole day. It’s the car for the 5 a.m. run to PHL, the client landing at ABE, an afternoon of meetings in Princeton, and the Center City dinner you’d rather not drive home from.

Quick Quote Start with the Trip Basics

Who Books a Black Car Service

A black car is for rides where arriving rested, on your own schedule, matters more than the cheapest fare. In the Valley that usually means one of these:

  • An early flight. For a 6:30 a.m. departure out of Philadelphia International, plan on leaving Allentown around 3 a.m., an hour when finding an app ride anywhere in the Valley is anyone’s guess.
  • A visitor flying into ABE. A client or a new hire shouldn’t have to figure out Route 22 on their first day.
  • A day of meetings in 2 states, with the car outside each one.
  • A dinner, a show or a family party where nobody in your group wants to be the one driving home.
  • A parent who has stopped driving at night and still wants to make the grandkids’ recital in Easton.

Most pickups are in Allentown and the towns around it, roughly a 15-minute drive from where we’re based in Orefield. Bethlehem, Easton and the boroughs are a little farther out and just as routine.

Point-to-Point Rides

One pickup, one drop-off, usually quoted as one price for the route. Airport rides are the obvious case. So are a trip to Trenton or Princeton Junction to catch a train, an anniversary dinner in New Hope and a one-way ride to a wedding in Bucks County.

Hourly Car Service

Hourly car service gives you one car and one chauffeur for a block of time. It fits days you can’t time to the minute: a string of meetings, a dinner that might run long, a Saturday with stops in 3 towns. Some people call it a private chauffeur service, and it’s the same arrangement: the car is yours for the hours you book, and it goes where the day goes.

Long Distance: Allentown to Princeton, King of Prussia, Philadelphia and Manhattan

Plenty of black car work leaves the Valley. Allentown to Princeton is a common run for campus visits and meetings. Allentown to King of Prussia covers the mall, the hotels and the office parks near the Valley Forge interchange. Center City means meetings and dinners, and Midtown means shows and client lunches, about 2 hours each way; the New York City day-trip notes cover the tunnels and Midtown drop-offs.

Sedan or SUV: Which Car Fits Your Trip

The business sedan seats up to 3 riders with room for about 3 checked bags. It’s the right car for 1 or 2 people with luggage, or 3 colleagues on a short local run. On a 2- to 3-hour ride to JFK, 3 adults will find the back seat snug.

The premium SUV handles up to 6 riders and roughly 6 checked bags: a family of 4 with ski bags, a golf foursome with clubs, or 3 executives who want room to open a laptop.

Count bags before you count people. A pair of travelers with 4 large suitcases needs the SUV, even though 2 people fit in a sedan with room to spare.

Booking a Black Car, Step by Step

Say whether you want it point to point or by the hour. Not sure? Describe the day on the request form and we’ll price whichever option fits it.

  1. List Every Stop and Time

Give the pickup, each stop in order, even a 5-minute coffee run, and the final drop-off, with the times that matter and how many bags are riding along.

  2. Sedan or SUV, in Writing

Dispatch picks a sedan or SUV by bags as much as riders and prices the route or the hours. An hourly quote states its minimum and how parking is handled.

  3. Pickup Set, Changes Welcome

Once you approve, your confirmation carries the pickup time, the address and a contact for the day. Snow in the forecast or a meeting rescheduled? Ask dispatch to shift the pickup.

Drive Times, Waiting and What’s Covered

Plan on these times in normal traffic; rush hours and snow stretch them.

Rush Hours and Winter Weather

Coming home from King of Prussia after 4 p.m. is the slow trip, because the mainline Turnpike and the Mid-County interchange tend to back up. The Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) decides how long Center City takes, and the tunnels decide Manhattan.

From December through March, snow on the Northeast Extension or I-78 can stretch any of these drives. If the forecast looks rough the night before, move the pickup 20 to 30 minutes earlier; tell dispatch and the new time goes on your confirmation.

Waiting, Stops and Parking

On an hourly booking, the chauffeur waits while you’re inside; that’s what the hours are for. On a point-to-point ride, list any stops on the request, even a 5-minute one, so they’re in the price. In Center City and Midtown there’s rarely a legal place to wait at the curb, so waiting usually means a garage or a loop around the block, and the quote says how parking is handled.

Why Black Car Riders Choose DT Goods

Many black car rides are booked for someone else: a client, a parent, a new hire flying in. Here’s what stays the same on every one.

  • Based in Orefield

We’re about 15 minutes from Allentown and from ABE, so Route 22 at rush hour, I-78 truck traffic and the Turnpike ramps are old news to us.

  • One Request, Any Size

A sedan for 2 or a coach for 56: the same form, the same people, one quote.

  • Always with a Chauffeur or Driver

Nothing here is self-drive. Every booking comes with someone behind the wheel whose job is getting your people there.

  • The Quote Comes in Writing

You see the price before anything is booked, and no card is ever taken on this website.

  • Timing Planned Backward

We start from the time that can’t move (a flight, a dinner reservation, a ceremony or a kickoff) and work back to the pickup, with room for traffic or a snowy morning.

  • Past the Valley, Still One Contact

When a trip starts somewhere else in the country, we arrange it through partner operators and you keep talking to us.

What a Black Car Costs

For a black car service, the price moves with the vehicle, the time it’s booked for, and how far your first pickup and last drop-off sit from Orefield. A long one-way ride to Manhattan or Princeton also has to cover the empty drive home, so a same-day round trip with the car waiting can cost about the same as 2 separate one-way rides. Ask for both and compare; how pricing works breaks down the parts.

Every Trip Is Quoted, Not Guessed

Hourly bookings are priced by the vehicle and the hours, with a minimum. Tolls, parking and gratuity are listed on the quote, so you see the whole number before you book.

Chauffeur Service Questions

Here’s what a black car is, how it differs from a rideshare, and how hourly minimums, extra stops and same-day round trips work.

What Is a Black Car Service?

It’s a ride you book ahead in a sedan or SUV with a chauffeur, with the price agreed in writing before the day. The name goes back to the dark town cars that used to do this work; today it describes the arrangement more than the paint. You get a set pickup time, a known vehicle and a chauffeur assigned to your ride, instead of whichever car happens to be closest when you open an app.

How Is a Black Car Different from Uber or Lyft?

You book it in advance, and the price, the vehicle and the pickup time are settled in writing before the trip. Nobody is matched at random, so a 3 a.m. pickup in Schnecksville doesn’t depend on who happens to be awake nearby. You also pick the car size to fit your bags, and you can book by the hour and keep the same car and chauffeur for the whole day.

How Long Does the Allentown to Princeton Drive Take?

Plan on about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, most of it on I-78 east and then south through Somerset County. Weekday rush hours on the New Jersey side can add 20 minutes or more. For a meeting or a campus visit, we’d set the pickup so you arrive about 15 minutes early, and book it hourly if you want the car to wait and bring you home.

Can I Book Allentown to King of Prussia and Back in One Day?

Yes. The drive usually takes about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes each way on the Northeast Extension and the Turnpike, longer in the late afternoon. If you’ll be there a few hours, book it hourly and the car waits for you. If it’s a full day, 2 one-way rides may come out lower. Tell us your arrival and departure times and we’ll quote it both ways.

Is There a Minimum for Hourly Car Service?

Yes. Hourly bookings carry a minimum number of hours, and the minimum depends on the vehicle. Your written quote states the minimum, and how pricing works explains where hourly minimums fit into a price. If your outing is shorter than the minimum, ask us to price it as a round trip or 2 one-way rides instead and compare.

Can the Chauffeur Make Extra Stops Along the Way?

On an hourly booking, yes: stops are part of the time you’ve reserved. On a point-to-point ride, add them to the request, even a quick one to collect a colleague or grab coffee, so they’re built into the quote. A stop you think of on the day may still be possible, but it can change the price, so listing it up front is the cleaner way.

Do You Offer a Private Chauffeur Service Outside the Lehigh Valley?

Yes. Rides that start in the Valley can go anywhere you can sensibly drive: Philadelphia, Princeton, the Jersey Shore, Manhattan, Washington, DC. Pickups in New Jersey and New York work too, JFK and Newark arrivals most of all. If you need a car that starts farther off, say a pickup in Chicago or Atlanta, we arrange it through partner operators and quote it the same way, in writing, before anything is booked.
