Charter Bus Rental for Lehigh Valley Groups

Charter bus rental for groups of 24 to 56 heading to the same place at the same time: an Eagles game, an Atlantic City casino day, a Broadway matinee, a Penn State Saturday. Every coach and minibus comes with a driver. Send us the stops and the times that matter, and we’ll quote the whole day from Orefield.

Quick Quote Start with the Trip Basics

Who Books a Charter Bus Rental, and What For

A simple test: if the group is too big for 2 Sprinters and everyone is leaving together and coming home together, it’s a coach. Around here that usually looks like one of these.

  • Game days. Eagles and Phillies games at the South Philadelphia sports complex, Penn State Saturdays at Beaver Stadium (about 3 hours each way), and the occasional trip to MetLife Stadium. Kickoff timing and stadium bus lots are covered under game days and concerts.
  • Casino and shore days. Atlantic City is about 2½ hours on the Turnpike, a Delaware River bridge and the Atlantic City Expressway, which makes it an easy day trip with time on the Boardwalk.
  • New York City. Broadway matinees, the holiday windows, a museum day. Midtown takes about 2 hours by way of the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel, and the day-trip notes below explain how the drop-off works.
  • Schools, churches and clubs. Class trips, youth retreats, senior center outings, a band headed to a competition with instruments under the floor.
  • Companies. Plant picnics, offsite days, a busload of staff to a conference in Philadelphia.
  • Big weddings. Past about 50 guests, 1 coach from the hotel block is often simpler than 2 shuttles.

Most trips start close to home: we handle charter bus rental in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton and the boroughs in between. Charter bus rental in Pennsylvania doesn’t stop at the Valley, either. A group leaving Reading, Doylestown or Stroudsburg is close enough to quote, and a trip that starts farther off can be handed to a partner operator near you, with us still handling the booking.

Day Trips from the Lehigh Valley

Most day trips from Allentown run 1 to 3 hours each way, so the group gets a full day at the other end and still sleeps at home. We plan each one backward from the time that can’t move, then fit the pickups in an order that avoids doubling back. The organizer can make the day easier in 3 ways. Pick lots a 45-foot coach can pull into and leave again: a church lot, a park-and-ride or a school bus loop, never a cul-de-sac. Have our written quote in hand before announcing a price per seat. And keep a rider list with cell numbers, so the headcount at the end of the day takes 2 minutes instead of 20.

Atlantic City

A casino bus out of the Valley usually carries a club: a senior center, a church social committee, a fire company on its yearly outing. Saturdays bring birthday and bachelorette groups. Wind Creek is about 20 minutes away in Bethlehem, but Atlantic City has the Boardwalk, the ocean in July and a show.

On a typical Saturday for 45 riders, the coach leaves a Whitehall church lot at 7:30 a.m., collects a second group in Bethlehem at 7:55 and reaches the casino’s bus entrance around 10:30. Everyone has until 5:30 p.m., then meets at the same door for a headcount; Bethlehem is about 8:15 p.m. and Whitehall about 8:40 p.m. Each extra pickup adds 15 to 25 minutes in the morning and again at night. Keep the whole group at one casino, since splitting it between the Boardwalk and the Marina district adds a stop each way. Staying until midnight needs a relief driver or a night in town. Bring photo ID (New Jersey casino floors are 21 and over), your player’s card, a layer for the Boardwalk wind and a phone charger. The coach may be locked while the driver rests, so carry what you’ll need.

New York City

Typical riders are a high school choir bound for a Broadway workshop, a church group out to see the holiday windows, or a seniors’ club at the Met. For a 2 p.m. matinee, 50 riders board in Allentown at 8 a.m. and Bethlehem at 8:30, come through the Lincoln Tunnel around 10:30 and step off near the Theater District at 10:45. Pickup is 5:30 p.m. at the same corner, with Bethlehem about 8:10 p.m. and Allentown about 8:35 p.m. Downtown stops like the 9/11 Memorial suit the Holland Tunnel instead.

Settle on one pickup corner and one time, and send both to every rider before anyone wanders off. For lunch before a matinee, plan to be off the bus by 12:30 p.m. at the latest. From late November to New Year’s, the Rockefeller Center tree and the Fifth Avenue windows draw the year’s heaviest crowds, so weekdays move better and the pickup belongs a few blocks from the tree. An evening show ending at 10:30 p.m. gets the bus home after 1 a.m., which calls for a later start or a second driver. Theaters and museums check bags, so bring a small one. A group of 7 to 14 fits in one Executive Sprinter.

The Poconos

We drive ski clubs, school ski trips, Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge birthday weekends, wedding guests and Pocono Raceway fans up to the mountains, where no passenger train runs. Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton is about 45 minutes from Allentown; Camelback, Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge are about an hour by Route 33 and I-80; Mount Airy Casino Resort is 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes away.

A Camelback Saturday starts with a 6:30 a.m. pickup in Allentown and reaches the lodge by about 7:40. The driver rests in the resort’s bus parking, the group meets back at the bus at 3:45 p.m., and everyone is home around 5:15 p.m. Snow comes earlier and heavier on the mountain, so dispatch checks the forecast before every winter run and may move the pickup earlier. Send the exact lodge or cabin address, because map pins in the woods can be off and a 35-passenger bus can’t turn around on every private lane. Count skis, boards and boot bags as well as riders, since a party bus has no luggage hold and a minibus with rear luggage space is the usual ski-club pick. For a resort weekend, a Friday drop-off and a Sunday pickup usually cost less than a bus and driver parked for 48 hours.

Coach Bus Rental or Minibus: Getting the Size Right

Start with the headcount, then think about bags and the venue.

  • Up to 56: a full-size motorcoach. With 48 or 50 riders you still have a few spare seats for coats. Luggage rides in the bays under the floor, so a weekend trip with suitcases fits.
  • From 24 to 35: a minibus. Right for a 30-person office outing or a youth group, and easier to get into a tight hotel lot or a narrow street in historic Bethlehem. Most models have rear luggage space, but not the room a coach has. Our minibus shuttle rental page has the details.
  • Between sizes. At 38 or 40 people you’re choosing between 1 coach with room to spare and 2 minibuses. Running 2 buses makes sense when the group boards in 2 towns or splits up at the destination.
  • Under 15. A coach is more bus than you need. Look at Sprinter van rental instead, or a minibus if the van would be packed tight.

How a Bus Rental with Driver Gets Booked

Send the itinerary in order: each pickup, the time that can’t move (kickoff, curtain, hotel check-in), when you head home and the headcount; if the return is unsure, give the latest it could be. Start your charter quote.

  1. Same Night or Staying Over?

Note whether the group comes home the same night or stays over, how many are riding and what luggage or gear goes under the floor, from suitcases to band instruments.

  2. Coach Size and Driver Hours

We match a coach or minibus to the group, check the day against federal driving-hour limits and put the hours, the miles and any second driver or overnight in writing.

  3. Hand the Leader the Details

With the quote approved, the group leader gets each pickup time and lot, the end-of-day meeting point and the driver’s contact. Riders dropped out or signed up late? Update the count.

The Driver’s Day: Hours, Overnights, Staging and Tolls

This is where charter quotes differ from one company to the next, so it helps to know how the pieces work.

Hours on the Road

Federal hours-of-service rules cap a bus driver’s time behind the wheel, and total time on duty, in a single day. A Penn State Saturday adds up fast: 3 hours out, a tailgate and a game, then 3 hours or more back in post-game traffic. Days like that can need a second driver or an overnight, and we sort that out on the quote, not the morning of the trip. The hours on a quote include the drive to your first pickup.

Day Trip or Overnight

Atlantic City and New York usually work as day trips. On a multi-day trip the driver needs a hotel room near yours, and the bus either stays with you or goes home and comes back. When the 2 options are close in cost, we’ll show you both.

Where the Bus Goes While You’re Inside

Coaches wait in a bus lot or a staging area, not at the door; the questions below have the details. Pick a meeting point everyone can find at the end of a long day, and make sure the group leader has the driver’s number.

Tolls and Parking

A coach pays tolls on the Pennsylvania Turnpike (cashless: E-ZPass or toll by plate), the New Jersey Turnpike, the Delaware River bridges, the Atlantic City Expressway and the Hudson tunnels. Manhattan’s congestion toll applies below 60th Street, and event bus parking can carry a fee. Your quote spells out how tolls and parking, gratuity, fuel, the deposit and cancellation are handled.

Why Groups Pick DT Goods as Their Charter Bus Company

A trip leader with 50 people has enough to keep track of. Our part is the bus, the timing and the route, all settled in writing before the week of the trip.

  • Based in Orefield

We’re about 15 minutes from Allentown and from ABE, so Route 22 at rush hour, I-78 truck traffic and the Turnpike ramps are old news to us.

  • One Request, Any Size

A sedan for 2 or a coach for 56: the same form, the same people, one quote.

  • Always with a Chauffeur or Driver

Nothing here is self-drive. Every booking comes with someone behind the wheel whose job is getting your people there.

  • The Quote Comes in Writing

You see the price before anything is booked, and no card is ever taken on this website.

  • Timing Planned Backward

We start from the time that can’t move (a flight, a dinner reservation, a ceremony or a kickoff) and work back to the pickup, with room for traffic or a snowy morning.

  • Past the Valley, Still One Contact

When a trip starts somewhere else in the country, we arrange it through partner operators and you keep talking to us.

What Drives the Price of a Charter Bus Rental

A charter bus rental is priced on the hours the bus is out, the miles, any driver overnight costs and the date: a Saturday in October or May is in demand in a way a Wednesday in March isn’t.

Every Trip Is Quoted, Not Guessed

Group trips are priced on the route: the vehicle, the hours or miles and the date. Tolls, parking and any driver costs for long days are listed on the quote.

Charter Bus Company Questions

For trip leaders, the answers below cover cost, bus size, pickups in several towns, where the coach waits and whether we’re a broker.

How Much to Rent a Charter Bus in Pennsylvania?

It depends on the hours, the miles and the date, so we price each trip from its itinerary rather than a rate card. A short local evening with an hourly minimum is priced very differently from a 14-hour Penn State Saturday or an overnight in Atlantic City. Send the plan through the quote form for a written number; the same page explains how hours, tolls, gratuity and driver lodging add up.

How Much Does a 3-Day Charter Bus Rental Cost?

A 3-day charter is priced on the bus’s days away from home, the driver’s hotel room, and either the miles to bring the bus back between legs or the cost of keeping it with you. Driver rest rules shape the schedule too, so a long driving day may need a second driver. Send each day’s start and finish times, and the quote will lay out how the days are covered.

Is Every Bus Rental with a Driver?

Yes. We don’t rent buses for you to drive. Every coach and minibus comes with a driver who handles the route, the parking and the timing for the whole itinerary. That also means the driver’s hours count, which is why a very long day sometimes needs 2 drivers or an overnight.

What Size Bus Do We Need for 40 People?

A 56-passenger motorcoach. Minibuses top out around 35 seats, so 40 people would mean 2 of them, which can make sense if half the group boards in Easton and half in Fogelsville. If those 40 people are bringing suitcases for a weekend away, the coach’s under-floor bays settle the question.

Can the Bus Pick Up in More Than One Town?

Yes. List every stop in order with a headcount at each, and the schedule is built backward from the arrival time that matters. Each extra stop adds loading time plus the drive between towns, and a second pickup on the far side of the Valley means a full crossing on I-78 or Route 22 before the trip really starts.

Where Does the Bus Wait During a Game or a Show?

Usually in a bus lot or a staging area, not at the door. Stadium lots generally set aside a section for buses. In Midtown Manhattan a coach can’t sit at the curb, so the driver drops the group, parks elsewhere and comes back at a set time. The pickup spot and time are agreed before the trip, and the group leader gets the driver’s contact for the day.

How Far Ahead Should We Book a Coach?

As soon as you have a date. Fall Saturdays fill with football, April through June brings proms and class trips, and December is busy with Christmas trips to New York. If your date is a few weeks out, send it anyway and we’ll tell you what’s open, including a partner operator’s coach if that’s the way to cover it.

Are You a Charter Bus Company or a Broker?

We’re a Lehigh Valley transportation company based in Orefield, and you deal with us from the quote to the ride home. Depending on the date and where the trip starts, the coach may be run by a partner operator. If you’re comparing charter bus companies in Pennsylvania, ask each one who actually operates the coach, and ask us the same before you confirm.
